Owner and Group Managing Director since 1976, Anthony Wong of Asian Overland Services Tours & Travel, AOS Conventions & Events & AOS Training Centre is seen by many as a visionary in his field. Revered by his peers, Anthony has been bestowed with a multitude of awards to celebrate his hard work and dedication in the tourism and meetings industry. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and seminars on eco-tourism and the M.I.C.E industry and is regularly called upon for consultation and advice.
At IMEX 2003 in Frankfurt Germany, Anthony was among four recipients of the "Academy Awards" recognised for bringing about greater awareness of the Incentive and Meetings industry within the Asia Pacific region. Anthony is the programme designer & principle facilitator. Currently, he is the Adjunct Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia in Faculty of Tourism & Hospitality
David Hall
David Hall is an Australian - born in England - and has been involved in the convention and exhibition industry for over forty years. Early in his career he worked in corporate public relation positions in London, Montreal and New York, before taking up residence in New Zealand and subsequently Australia. Since the late 1960’s David has been the CEO of various convention and visitor bureaux in New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia.
David has been a board member of the InternationalCongress and Convention Association (ICCA), the InternationalAssociation of Convention and Visitor Bureaux (IACVB), the Asian Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaux (AACVB) and was the President of the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) for five years.
Hans Henrik Friis
Hans Friis has worked in the MICE industry more than 19 years. Starting out as European Marketing and Rental Service Manager, later as International Marketing Manager for the Group of companies (6 companies world-wide), also Key Account Manager for the large accounts e.g. United Nations, New York, Geneva and Vienna, World Bank/IMF, IUCN – World Conservation Union.
Hans worked for two years in the Travel & Shipping Division of the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. His career started in the Shipping working with the General Agent for Hapag-Lloyd in Copenhagen. During the 17 years with Brähler ICS Hans has been the face of the company in respect to the industry associations, both as a personal member as well as representing the company with ICCA, AIPC, GCB – German Conventions Bureau, SITE, MPI to name a few and Hans has been a regular lecturer at industry events.
Glenn McCartney
Glenn McCartney is Managing Partner of Insights Unlimited, a travel and tourism consultancy practice, working with government on tourism planning and management issues as well as the private sector, in particular the casino and event industries. He received his doctorate degree from the School of Management, University of Surrey. In 2009 he was nominated as ‘Emerging Scholar of Distinction’ by the International Academy for the Study of Tourism due to his contribution to tourism research. He is visiting faculty at several universities and colleges developing and teaching short courses as well as graduate studies in event and MICE management. He has researched and developed MICE programmes for the Macao Government which included a student training manual in English and Chinese. He is author of the graduate and practitioner textbook Event Management: An Asian Perspective published by McGraw-Hill in March 2010.
